Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

After nearly 15 years of blogging about the retro, I have stepped back from posting regularly.

To make time for new endeavors, I can no longer respond to emails asking for personalized assistance. Please note: I do not sell anything. If you are looking for a particular item, the blog is full of many resources, give the Search box a whirl!

can you postal mail me a color chart for your toilet, round, up to 17 1/2 inches tall, including the seat that flushes well? I have a 1995 Mansfield 130-160 ULF Toilet, standard tank,1.6 gif-6.0 Lpf, ULF, gravity fed flushing action. It doesn’t flush well at all. Keeps plugging up and my plumber said the design is now improved. How is it improved, please?

    Pam…HELP!
Any thoughts finding a vintage NuTone push on knob??? ( black )
It’s to replace the vise grip clamped on the metal stem for the timer on a retro NuTone Bathroom Exhaust fan? It’s on the wall. It only turns on the timer, as the wall switch turns on the fan itself. Looks so tacky!! 🙂
    Thanks So Much!!

The listing; Build an Eichler ranch house, 8 original design house plans available today…………was available a few years ago but today
I’m told Berkeley pulled the plans and no one is able to sell them,
but Berkeley. when I contact Berkeley they claim to not have the
plans……..what did they do, go up in smoke? Sort of like living
in Cambria on the Central Coast, “the gangplank syndrome” I’m
here and I don’t want you to move here. Any suggestions? Or at
    least a response.

Hi Wil, I don’t know the answer to this. As I recall, I wrote the story… then a few years later the company with the plans asked me to take it down because the plans were no longer available. Check this story out, though: https://retrorenovation.com/2018/10/16/84-original-retro-midcentury-house-plans-still-buy-today/

No single answer to this — start hunting ceaselessly. Salvage places and craigslist nationally are likely your best bets. Good luck. Pam

I am not an expert on this, David, I suggest you go to a really good tile store and talk to them about the solution – they can show you.

Are you aware of any upholstery fabric that is a nice jadeite, fire king-y green? Moss and olive are the current trend, and I just can’t find a good vintage green. Thanks!

My husband and I are going to make a retro chrome and laminate kitchen table w/ double chrome legs. We have been able to buy everything we need except for the double leg caps for the bottom of the table legs. I don’t know where else to go. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks ~Fran W
