A 1966 Rat Pack time capsule house in Vintage Las Vegas

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Oh my goodness, some of the features in this 1966 Las Vegas time capsule are just exquisite.

The house is a little older than those I usually feature. But I couldn’t resist. The more immersed I become in designs of the 1946-1966 era (where I draw the lines around “postwar”), the more I also find myself tip-toeing into the late 60s and yes, early 70s. It’s all so much fun.

Love this house!

Love the doors!

Love the door handles!

Love the door bell!

Love love love the bathroom with its metallic wallpaper. I want my hair to go grey…then white…then blue in this bathroom mirror!

And did I mention the pool? Has anyone done definitive research – does Las Vegas have THE GREATEST mid mod houses in the nation?

Uncle Jack LeVine is a realtor who runs the Vintage Las Vegas blog, which I read every day. Yes, Jack, I really do! This is his listing. $495,000. Click here to see the online sales brochure. Thanks, Uncle Jack!

Given its development trajectory, Vegas no doubt has some fab mid-mod(ern) housing action, but I would think Palm Springs or Phoenix could give it a serious run for the money! (if there’s a pun in there, it’s purely unintentional, ha)

I have that same doorbell in the house I just bought! I would consider selling it if I could get that much out of it for sure!
The house also came with a 60s Frigidaire stove that I need to sell, still works. But don’t know how much it’d be worth.
And also a Montgomery Ward metal kitchen (double) sink cabinet with two drain boards on both sides, probably about 5ft long. Need to sell that too! Anyone know how much that’d be worth?

oh my goodness… just found your website when looking for info on poured floors, and i am going crazy. this house in particular reminds me of one a friend of mine sold last year in winnipeg – it was absolutely mint, with more flocked wallpaper and more ornate doorhandles than mere words could ever do justice. will have to see if i can dig up some pictures to send you.

    Wow! What a house! Grooovy!
Thanks, NancyPalmSprings for the website. I do need a period correct door bell chime.

Hello, if you are looking for a mod doorbell, check out ElectraChime.com. They have period correct long bell door chimes that are perfect for a doorbell nook or a plain wall. Several styles would be perfect for a mid-century house.

    Courtney,

Keep your eye out on eBay; I’ve seen three of these same Nutone vintage door chimes come up for auction in the past three weeks or so—and none of them sold for over $20.

Right now there’s a similar one, a Sears woodgrain style, on eBay stores for around $25.

Oh my stars and garters. The blue/green can-can lights make me ache. I NEED THEM. Love the vivid blue/greens in the 60s. Bathroom wallpaper: must rendezvous. I want to wear it.
The doorbell is cute/stunning, but I want to give someone like, 40 bucks for it. I will not give Rejuvenation 200 bones unless the exchange is 20 peg doorknobs and a general apology.

    Hi Pam!
    GREAT time capsule house.

Did you notice Rejuvenation has that same doorbell for sale in their antique porch hardware section? Here’s the link:

We’ve emailed a little back and forth, but I’m finally logged in so I can comment now. 😉
