A house full of 400 vintage appliances: Crazy cool!

pam kueber - Updated: April 3, 2012

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

“… Yes… we’re obsessed… but in positive way…”

This video is INSANE! This couple, Robert and Fred, have collected $40,000 worth of vintage appliances — a total of 400 appliances — including vintage Mixmasters, Hoover vacuums, Constellations, toasters. And, they have like 26 washers and dryers in their 1,200 basement alone. They now never use a washing machine made after 1965. These are our kind of people! Thanks to reader Amanda for the tip! I am IN LOVE with their pink dishwasher! And the kitchen…SO AWESOME! I don’t know if I would personally collect that many appliances, but when you are buying 50+ year old appliances, it must be nice to have a back up!

Sounds like they make their own repairs.

What makes them exceptional is their sense of style in displaying their appliances. The presentation is stylish, neat, and everything looks immaculate! Hats off to these two gentlemen.

And I thought I had alot of appliances! I can only imagine the rolodex of repair facilities they must have to keep them in such fantastic condition. I”m actually speechless beyond this! Well, you know, I picked up a mint condition “Fryryte” yesterday at a sale……lol.

Amazing! What fun to look at the beautiful appliances. I think these two are lucky they found each other. Everything is so pristine.

This was wonderful. What a cute couple and WHAT A COLLECTION!!! I also loved that there kitchen was a gorgeous showcase to house all those wonderful appliances. Can you imagine the look on the plumbers face when he came to install all the water lines for those washing machines!!
It’s also great that they use all these machines on a regular basis rather than just storing them.
