But if you are thinking about doing fabulous things with vintage Shiny Brite ornaments, you only have so many days left to ornie-hoard and hot-glue. Or… if you know you are never gonna get this crafty yourself — here’s your chance to win our super famous annual giveaway: A vintage Shiny Brite ornament wreath made by the the queen of Shiny Brite crafting, the talented and generous Georgia Peachez. Every year, as a gift to readers, I buy a wreath from Suzy aka Georgia Peachez for this giveaway. Thank you, readers, for being THE BEST. I luv you! Suzy always jumps to help out. She gave me a great price (her wreaths now sell for $250! each!) — and quick as I asked, she made this special wreath just for us. She said:
Pam, I made a wreath with my two favorite elements, a knee hugger elf and a reindeer.

My favorite part of Christmas is driving or walking around our 1930’s era neighborhood to look at the holiday lights. There are many beautiful displays and each time I go through the neighborhood I see new things about them!

Love the elf in that wreath! The new ones aren’t half as cute. My favorite part of the Christmas season is our family dinner the week before, when all who can gather at whoever has the next rotation. The rest of us arrive with presents for kids. The host does the whole dinner. We decided we liked this better than the potluck approach. We save that for July 4th and Labor Day. Each Christmas in a different home is a fresh take on decorating.

My favourite part of Christmas is putting up my white tree with all my vintage ice lights and family ornaments from the ’30s-’60s, a stack of Mid-century Christmas records on ‘Dan-o’ the stereo, a pot of mulled wine on the stove.

I love the warm, welcoming smells of cinnamon and chocolate that mixes with the smells of freshly steamed tamales. I love Mexican American Christmas!

I love listening to Christmas music while making candy and baking. But I look forward most to our Christmas eve tradition of reading the story of Jesus’ birth from the gospel of Luke, then getting together with family for a huge meal the next day!

Hello,
My favorite part of the holidays is following all our family traditions, even though our kids are grown, they still want to do the same stuff each year, find the perfect tree and cut it down, go to the Nutcracker, leave cookies for Santa.
I just found your site today through Yankee magazine, and I just love it! I can’t believe I didn’t know about it sooner! I have a retro kitchen too (more 1940’s, but my fridge and stove are 1951), so this is right up my alley! So happy I found you!

As a child, I always wanted an aluminum Christmas tree. My mother always said, I was from another time (childhood was in the 80s/90s). The Christmas trees we did have when I was a child, always managed to be knocked over or thrown out the front door. Yes, while Christmas and the holidays are for family and spreading the holiday cheer, it is also prime time for family arguments and dysfunction!
As an adult, I got my vintage aluminum tree, color wheel and found a husband who is also from another time with the same dysfunctional family background!
So… my favorite part of the holidays is watching our tree dazzle with colors and the only threat of a possible knock down is from our crazy curious cats!

I love sitting by the fire, looking at the Christmas tree and hoping everyone has a peaceful and happy day. This year I will be adding the putz houses I have collected over the summer.
