Howdy, hudee — it’s time for our most awaited yearly giveaway on the blog: One lucky winner will win this gorgeous vintage ornament wreath, handcrafted by the Queen o’ Ornament Wreaths, the original trendsetter, the talented Suzy a.k.a. GeorgiaPeachez herself! These wreaths sell out fast in GeorgiaPeachez’s shop, so this is your chance to get one of these coveted creations for yourself. Note: What with Pam’s trip to Pittsburgh and Thanksgiving upon us, we will be taking next week off. Happy happy, everyone — see you on the 30th.
As far as we know, Georgia Peachez was the pioneer of the vintage ornament wreath, and has honed her craft to perfection. There’s nothing quite like an original GeorgiaPeachez creation!
In the last few years, she’s even started creating non-wreath vintage goodies, such as arrangements made in vintage vessels like head vases, retro toys and Christmas ceramics, as well as dioramas made using the vintage ornament boxes. You can see a lot of her adorable creations on GeorgiaPeachez’s Facebook page. Bottom line, we just luv this lady!

I love taking a long staycation to spend time with family and friends. I’m also very fond of the decor, the presents, the food, the parties – all of it, really.

My favorite part of the holiday is when my three kids fly(from New York,Napa and San Luis Obispo)home and we sit in the living room and talk and eat and the house is fully decorated with sparkle and bling and we wake up the next day and do it all over again.

“It’s a Christmas wreath, Mr. Bond,” Q said, handing Bond a large box.
James tipped opened the lid, “Oh, very nice, Q! Very nice indeed. What does the elf do? Does he poison darts from his eyes?”
“No, Mr. Bond,” Q replied. He’s just an elf. It’s a Christmas wreath. Happy Christmas, James.”
“Oh, thank you, Q,” James responded. “Happy Christmas to you, too! And that bulb with the conical indentation, does that focus a laser to a strength that will cut through steel?”
“No, James,” Q smiled, “It just a Christmas bulb on a wreath. You know, you hang it on your door.”
“Yes, I see!” James Bond was excited now. “But what if my would-be assassin is a dwarf? Does this bell fall to the ground and release a poison gas on impact?”
“No James, I’m afraid you don’t fully understand.” Q was becoming exasperated now. “It’s a decorative wreath, nothing more.”
“Exactly what you want the folks at Spectre to think! Good show Q!” James was positively giddy now. “And what does this bell do? Does it sound at a perfect resonance frequency to render a person unconscious so I can make a last minute escape?”
“Well…” Q paused. “Yes… Yes, it does do that I’m afraid. You see, I made the wreath with some spare parts that were lying around the workbench.”
“Perfect!” James clapped Q on the back. “Happy Christmas old man!”

Pick me! Pick me! I have my grandmother’s and great-aunt’s vintage glass ornaments – I love to find a special spot on the tree for them every year.

My favorite part of the holidays is how everything sparkles. Our city just put up lights on the trees along the main street and at all the municipal buildings. We’ll have the tree-lighting ceremony the weekend after Thanksgiving, complete with carolers and hot chocolate. The best part is when Santa arrives via helicopter (!) and then sits inside city hall to listen to each child’s wish list. Everybody is just happy.

This year, it’s all about sparkle! We just bought a MCM home built in 1961 and this will be our first year with an aluminum tree covered with the blown glass ornaments from my childhood!

The memories….as a child my mom an d dad always gave us the best Christmas, a loving, happy home, traditions poassed down from their parents. And as a mother of two, we have done the same with our two boys, now 18 & 23…it’s all about family. Keeping the connection to the past, the memories of those that are no longer with us and now passing on the traditions to them for the next generation.
