Doing some research about appliances, we bumped into this story in Whirlpool’s press room: Seems like the company is considering introducing a new color, “Sunset Bronze.”
I’m kinda into this Sunset Bronze, because it’s like the drawer fronts in American Brand Pioneer kitchens married the metal dome of my vintage Imperialite pendant light and gave birth to a rosy love child. I’m not in the market for new appliances myself, but if I were working on a retro kitchen project, I might play around with a mood board that considered these. The are different. And they are warm.
The Whirlpool’s PR rep was very helpful in supplying images, but seemed to be towing the line on whether the company is even bringing these to market. I think the story is, Whirlpool showed off this color at some trade show to gauge interest, and now they need to decide. Officially, Whirlpool told us, “We received tremendous positive response to the introduction of Sunset Bronze and are looking forward to bringing it to market in the future. Although we do not have a hard launch date yet, please continue to check Whirlpool.com for updates.” Whether this color makes the cut or not, it is nice to see a major mainstream manufacturer considering mass market options other than stainless, black and white.

I like it and would consider it a top choice for the MCM house we are about to move into as I think it would go nicely with the brown wall oven and copper trimmed light fixtures when I am eventually able to replace the currently installed white stovetop, white dishwasher and stainless frig.

Yes, over black or stainless; strong contender over white, and is very pretty.

Yes, immediately. So nice to see something that isn’t grey, stainless, or black…and warm-toned rather than cold and clinical.

Yes!

These are nice but do not excite me. A friend of mine bought a full set of kitchen appliances about 8 years ago (Whirlpool, I think) in a similar “warm” metal finish, but it was on closeout since it had not proved popular at that time.
Pam, if you have any influence with these manufacturers, can they please offer happy colors such as turquoise and yellow, or even pink, sprayed on the same boxes they use for white? Not asking for retro shapes or handles, just the color of the boxes. Metal handles for the colors would be great.

I like this idea a lot

Yes! Like very much! All I ask is to never return the 70’s avocado, yellow or brown era. Those colors were just plain ugly; always ugly.
Pearl says
I think they’re sexy!

Lovely color which is appealing for both vintage and current remodeling projects. Bravo!

Hi
Nice color but I would not buy. The copper tone is for sure a 50-60’s metal finish. Think colonial homes of the period. Cooper plates on walls with copper cooking forms on walls plus copper drinking cups. Very cool for the time.
I did a remodel of my condo in Fla. and was told if I wanted to sell install stainless and granite. The compromise was I did granite for stainless can make a room seem small. I stuck with white appliances to make the room lighter. The stainless fad is way way overdone for most look real cheap up close. Again in my new home in NY white was installed and formica is just great for me. As another writer wrote I did not consider buying the granite ,stainless ploy. Thanks for the great articles.
