For the past 4 years I have owned and run a bakery, sending holiday cookies all over the USA. Because of the business, I worked everyday, 14 hours a day, from thanksgiving to chrismas. I am closing my bakery and going back to my old career.
Now, for the first time in years I’ll be able to have the time to fully decorate for and celebrate the holidays. We have lived in a mid century modern home for the past 2 years and this wreath would be the perfect accent. I am really looking forward to making wonderful holiday memories in this house.

My fav. part of Christmas is when the tree is decorated, the house is clean, pine smell is in the air and it’s snowing…. the time when you can sit back and just enjoy the sounds and smells of the season. Every year since I was a child I would lay down and just look up into the tree imagining it was a city all it’s own, I still do that, and on Christmas eve just knowing that the Lord came to earth fills me with such hope and love. I guess I have many fav parts of Christmas.

I love the outward trimmings and trappings of Christmas: the decorations, the parties, the cookies, the tree, the wreath, the Christmas music…
I love the memories that the season evokes; of my loving grandparents, my sweet mother, and daughter as a little girl. Bring it on, I love it all. Even if I don’t win the BEAUTIFUL wreath, I am going to Pin the picture so I can continue to enjoy it. Love your postings, and thank you for keeping the Retro life in the present.

My favorite part of the holiday season is the holiday scents. Whether it’s the aroma of baked goods, fresh cut Christmas trees or the stored away decorations that carry a faint, slightly dusty smell mixed with candles. It all takes me back to a wonderful childhood in the 60’s!

My favorite part always has been the hush, the pause, the sparkling moment late on Christmas Eve, when everything is shiny and perfect, the tree casts colored shadows on the ceiling, the air is filled with anticipation, and dreams are–for a little while–almost tangible.

Twinkling Christmas lights; hot chocolate; warm fireplace & Andy Williams Christmas songs!

My favorite part of Christmas is sitting and looking at the Christmas tree with a fire in the fireplace and Christmas music on in the background! I also am loving finding vintage Christmas decor for our 1953 home…so this wreath would be a amazing!!

As I approach retirement age (although probably never the option to retire) I am quite nostalgic for the city and times in which I grew up. Holiday celebrations in my childhood home were quite ritualized and often photographed, so by sheer repetition they were easily recalled. Reliving the past with a deep whiff of evergreens, familiar recipes, and family make me feel young again, even as I watch my grandson open his packages.
