ENTRIES NOW CLOSED. Update: Congratulations to Lynne, winner of this year’s Georgia Peachez wreath. It turns out, we’ve featured Lynne and her knotty-pine + pink bathroom in this story!  Thanks, everyone, for playing — we’ll do it again next year! P.S. My friend Danielle and I made our own wreaths last night — they turned out FABULOUS! Story to come.

I know: According to authentic retro etiquette, it’s way too early to talk Christmas decorations. But if you are thinking about doing fabulous things with vintage Shiny Brite ornaments, you only have so many days left to ornie-hoard and hot-glue. Or… if you know you are never gonna get this crafty yourself — here’s your chance to win our super famous annual giveaway: A vintage Shiny Brite ornament wreath made by the the queen of Shiny Brite crafting, the talented and generous Georgia Peachez. WOOT!

Suzy of Georgia Peachez
Suzy aka Georgia Peachez

Every year, as a gift to readers, I buy a wreath from Suzy aka Georgia Peachez for this giveaway. Thank you, readers, for being THE BEST. I luv you! Suzy always jumps to help out. She gave me a great price (her wreaths now sell for $250! each!) — and quick as I asked, she made this special wreath just for us. She said:

Pam, I made a wreath with my two favorite elements, a knee hugger elf and a reindeer.

Heck to the yeah, knee hugger elf and reindeer! Thank you, Suzy!

My favorite part of Christmas is being with my whole family and sharing lots of traditions: Christmas Eve dinner, watching “It’s a Wonderful Life”, going to church services, savoring the moments that make memories. I’d love to win this wreath because it evokes my wonderful memories of my childhood Christmases when we would decorate our tree with beautiful ornaments like Suzy used on the wreath. They also remind me of my Mom’s silver Christmas tree that she always put on our porch and I loved how the outside lights made the tree shimmer in the dark! Merry Christmas!!! I love Retro Renovation – my son Jason got me hooked on it!

I love Christmas. Always have. When growing up we had very little if any money. It didn’t matter. There was still magic, hope, faith and lots of love and joy. Celebrating the holiday with seven siblings was amazing. Even if we didn’t have money for ornaments, we’d decorate with greeting cards we received. The idea of Christmas was still burning. That’s where my love/obsession stems from. It takes me back. Reminds me of the important things. Above all else, togetherness and love. Now that I’m startingy own family, I hope to inspire the same love and hope in my little girls. Christmas isn’t just a day or a thought or reason to shop. If nothing else, it teaches you to believe, one more moment of magic and wonder <3

Watching Bell, Book, and Candle and wishing I had Kim Novak’s wardrobe and apartment and Jimmy Stewart’s book publisher office! I know it’s a weird choice but it’s my favorite holiday movie!

My favorite part of Christmas is getting to see relatives I wouldn’t normally see during the rest of the year. My family is scattered all across the country and it’s a real blessing when I do get to spend time with them. 🙂

My family and I love going to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve – the streets are quiet, the church is more hushed than usual, and when the lights are turned low and we sing Silent Night, we are closer to that night in Bethlehem than any other time of the year.

My favorite part of the holidays…not sure I can pick one. Love getting together with friends and family, the smell of fresh baked cookies, my home made chocolates and all the decorations!

I get together every year with my brother and sisters and make
“buckeyes” candy- and I watch “White Christmas ” and “Going My Way” and one of the versions of Chrismas Carol (love the Muppet version). I decorate like crazy and listen to Chrismas music for a solid month and sing along. I put up the nativity set my daughter’s dad sent back from the Phillipines when he was on the Roosevelt and remember how we watched the Bobe Hope Christmas special trying to catch a glimpse of him in the audience…and most of all, I count my blessings, just like Bing sings, because every Christmas is wonderful.

Handcrafting ornaments made with glue, glitter, pine cones, and other items we have collected throughout the year. Seeing everyone’s creativity and placing the homemade ornaments on the tree is always a special part of the holiday season.
