When I get overwhelmed, I tend to … whelm some more. Putting the final touches on the Mahalo Lounge is in abeyance while I procrastinate and do other stuff in my life and as is my way, don’t finish what I start. I KNOW I really should be finishing it. But then, I saw this vintage Thomas Strahan wallpaper on ebay for a good price and thought: The living room/dining room is shaping up krazy (well, still not enough krazy), so the foyer needs to be krazy, too.
So I’m going all Hollywood Regency — the flowers and birds wallpaper will go up the vertical walls…
… while the geometric Chinoiserie — same pattern as on the field of the wall-wallpaper — will go on the ceiling.
Because, you can never have too much wallpaper — especially METALLIC wallpaper — in your house. Just like, you can never have too many unfinished projects. Ugh ugh ugh.
Has everyone noticed? Wallpaper is now on trend. Golly, how I despise it when media say things are on trend. Ugh ugh ugh.
Do not follow trends. Ignore trends. Run screaming from trends. Follow your everlastinggobstopper heart o’ hearts.

I think that this wallpaper magnetically drawn to me also was influenced by my pondering my upcoming trip to Las Vegas. The flamboyance of vintage Vegas — amazing!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!! A girl after my own heart. I’m 90% finished on the kitchen–the other rooms in the house are in various stages and now I’m working on the garden and the sunporch–summer kitchen anyone???? Who ISN’T doing this with vintage houses. You see something on ebay–you buy it and then you fall in love with the project while the others simmer. What a find!!! The good thing is that you got it because if you missed it when would you have ever found it again. I have vintage wallpaper for the hall but haven’t gotten around to it–the important thing is I got what I needed, I’ll enjoy it later when it goes up. That was like my kitchen–I had my heart set on a ’57 stainless steel thermador oven but a pink 56 GE wall oven popped up. Anyone else have the same thing happen to them???

Robin Young, thank you so much!

Thank you so much Lynn!
Pamela, WHO on eBay sells that wallpaper?
Pam Kueber says
I think this was a random seller, not someone who specialized.
Set up saved searches then sit back and enjoy. The thing is, with vintage wallpaper on ebay, there are so many NEW wallpapers that are using the word vintage in their listings, that you just need to watch the search every day to see what true vintage comes up.

I firmly believe that having several projects going at once is the only way to do it. Rotating them out and putting others on the back burner to simmer can give you the time to contemplate the options more, and come up with even better solutions.
Speaking of wallpaper, I have been grooving through this website, about to order several samples, wowza! (Because I’m down to only 3-4 projects and need more in the queue!) wallpaperfromthe70s.com

That is a classy wallpaper and PERFECT for your project. You have great taste. It fits so well your period theme. Can’t wait to see the project when finishes.

No one should be forced to work on one project at a time, in my opinion. I am currently making a quilt, reupholstering a vintage Kroehler slipper chair, making new living room pillows, and just finished a very old small desk I am now using for a bar because I moved the MCM shelving I was using into the bedroom to compliment the huge Walter Sherwood painting my husband bought at an estate sale. Must now start turning the old chest of drawers into an open front quilt display.

So Pamela, does this mean your brand new Barbie house is going to be wallpapered too?
Where did you find this wallpaper?
I love metallic!
I want 70’s wild colors metallic wallpaper in my foyer. I’m still looking!
Oh, yesterday’s drainboard story you shared, turned out to be exactly what I have been waiting for.
THANK YOU SO MUCH PAMELA!!

Barbara, try this company https://www.wallpaperdirect.com/us
I believe its a British company, but distributes to the US. I have ordered a lot of paper from them. They have metalics, glitters, tropical…just incredible choices. Lots of flamingos!
Their sample program is the best I’ve ever experienced. The prices are great, and its fast. Nope, I don’t work for them nor does anyone I know! I’ve just had incredible luck with them, and want to pass it on.

Poor trend – it’s gotten a bad rap from misuse and abuse. Strictly and definitively speaking, it means something is moving toward a pinnacle, then plateaus until it wanes and fades. Which, in and of itself, isn’t a bad thing except it seems trends nowadays rocket up, spike, and drop like a rock. Using the term “trendy” can either be complimentary (keeping up with the times) or negative (not having a definitive style). I think it was ineffablespace who defined style eras or developments(?)
Anyways, with the advent of removable wallpaper, I think more people will try their hand at using wallpaper. It’s less messy and you don’t need to hire a pro to even get started. But…its impermanence…plus side – if you don’t like it you can take it down. If you DO like it, for certain it will not behave and stay where you put it but fall down or peel up at the seams. If you really like it, now you can tackle the real thing.
Anyways, I’m liking the two patterns and your proposed use of them. That being said – we know you’re a busy gal. Weebit is off to college. You still have snowbanks in Spring. Make slips of paper with your projects, put ’em in a hat, and draw one out. Finish that ONE. Sit back, enjoy, repeat.
I’m taking my own advice and challenge others. What say you?

I say: I’m running from the problem: Las Vegas, here I come!

Can’t wait to see the foyer, too.
